Registering - How to
Registering and requesting a premium trial are relatively-simple-two-step processes. However sometimes the simplest things prove most troublesome and confusing so we shall attempt to explain the process in detail.
The process is almost the same for requesting a "trial" and actually purchasing a "license".
A Brief Overview -
The software creates an email with the required information and you send the email. You will receive an email in return with a "key". You must copy the key from the email and paste it into the proper place.
If you install all three applications in the package - WinCAP Wizard and Beacon Time Wizard and GeoAlert-Extreme Wizard - before requesting a key it will save you some effort. Make sure and install them all to the same folder as that is where they need to exist.
If the computer on which you installed the software "does not" have an Internet connection, or you use AOL for email, the process is slightly different. See the Email Request Fails section for details.
The registration process is controlled through the software "About" window. To access the About window - on the Master-Control Palette click the "Menu" button then move down to the Options sub-menu and click the About item.
The About window -
The screen capture below is of the About window and should help understand the process.
#1 This area contains three buttons used to control the process. The three buttons are Request Trial, Order Now and Registration Key.

Requesting a Trial -
The first button marked "Request Trial" is available for new installs. When you click the Request Trial button two things happen. First another small window opens with a blank space for you to type your amateur radio call sign. If you do not have a call sign just enter your name. Note all characters you type become upper case. The Trial Request window is shown below in a screen capture.

After you have completely entered your call - click the button labeled "Send by email". We will reply via email as soon as possible and include your keys for WinCAP Wizard and the bonus keys for Beacon Time Wizard and GeoAlert-Extreme Wizard.
Below is an example of a key like you will receive via email. You must "copy" this key and paste it into WinCAP Wizard. Most windows users are familiar with the copy and paste functions. However some are not and actually think it is easier to try and type the key character by character. We shall try and describe what we believe is the easiest way to copy the key and then paste the key into the proper place.
Copy your Key -
In the example key below note marked spots labeled "start here" and "end here". If the key in you email "wrapped" around and is on two lines then widen the email window so it does not wrap.

In the email you receive, place your "cursor" at the beginning of your key - marked "start here" in the example above. Then hold your keyboard "shift" key and press your keyboard "end" key - don't worry about the space character at the end, as it won't matter. Your key is now "marked". To copy your key, hold your keyboard "Ctrl" key and press your keyboard "Insert" key. Your key is now copied onto the windows "clipboard" and ready to paste.
Paste your Key -
First you must access the WinCAP Wizard About window - on the Master-Control Palette click the Menu button and move down to Options and click the About item.
In the WinCAP Wizard About window click the button labeled "Registration Key" - the Registration window shown below will appear.

In the Registration window all you need do is click the button labeled "Paste the registration key below" and the key you copied above will be pasted correctly. After you paste the key click the OK button to close the Registration window. If all went well you will see a message that says "Thanks for requesting the trial, hope you find the extra features useful".
Notice in the Registration window above is a message stating, "Your call (or Name) MUST appear here same as in request. If not just create request, do not send". Yet some folks actually email and tell us the key doesn't work. Granted it is frustrating having to deal with keys at all. If you request a trial or license the remove the software and re-install your call or name may no appear. All you need do is click the "Request Trial" button and enter your call exactly as before and click "Send by email" The email will appear just as before but there is no need to actually send it as you already have your key. The process simply saves you call for later use. You can the immediately paste your key.
Reassure Yourself -
To reassure yourself all is well again access the About window. In "area #2" of the original About window screen capture above notice it says "QSL-ware". Now look at your about window in the same area and see it says something like the screen capture below.

Area #2 of your About window will of course have your call and a different date.
Additionally the Master-Control Palette menus will no longer have disabled items.
Again refer to the screen capture of the About window near the first of this topic.
Version Number -
#3 This area of the About window shows the "version number" of the software you have installed. Only the first three "parts" of the number are useful for check to see if an update is available. We usually have the version number for the latest release on our web site.
Web and Email Links -
#4 This are contains two "links". If your computer has Internet access the first link should open your web browser and take you to our web site. The second link should start an email addressed to use. If you do email please remember to use a notable subject line - "WinCAP Wizard" is always a good subject line.
Order Now -
When you decide that our continued work on WinCAP Wizard is worth supporting with your hard-earned money click the Order Now button. This process is almost exactly as requesting a trial but it also opens your web browser to our web site "secure order" page - please complete the steps to order. This process creates an email with a different subject line so we know to send you a permanent key.
Believe it or not some folks actually send the "registration request" and do not complete the order process. Perhaps they are not actually trying to slip by but what they should do is create a trial request if not ready to order.
Email Request Fails -
Some users may not have Internet access from the computer where they wish to run the software. Additionally AOL does not properly set up their email client in windows.
You will have to create the trial request manually then send.
The utility is named RegHelper, which is short for Registration Helper, gathers the info you must send so that we can create a key for you.
To download click this case sensitive link:
www.taborsoft.com/wwizard/RegHelper.exe
After downloading please "place in the same folder where you installed the software" then run the app named "RegHelper" and follow the instructions provided.
